Are you trying to pass off a genuine news item as a joke?
Are you trying to parody anti-Semitism?
The gunman isn't even named, and the odds against the gunman being Jewish are astronomical.

Upon the Cross
Upon the Cross You held my nails While in my sin I died. You held the wrath and drank the flames Of Fury, satisfied. Your blood did flow—my stones did fly At Steven as he died. And yet Your suff'ring arms did fly And Heaven opened wide!
Oh! God of mercy! God of grace! Upon my cross You died! You held my nails (all marked for me) And with my pain You died! For all that upon Thee did fall To fury satisfy Thy righteousness had aimed at me And in my path You died!
Oh, Heav'n-sent Savior! God Alone! With tears of strength You died! Upon the cross deserved by me By all my life You've tried, By all the wickedness I've done, My Jesus hung and died! Upon my cross of wickedness My Jesus satisfied!
To Heaven's Savior—God above— All glory and all praise! For He, in all His majesty Turns back my wicked ways. He is my shield and righteousness! God's Truth is my new Way! For on the cross at Calvary He opened Heaven's Way!

The OP knows he was a liberal Jew, because the voice of God in his head said so. Besides, everybody knows that liberal Jews are all a bunch of crazy gun nuts, and if he wasn't a liberal Jew, then he must have been a liberal feminist gun nut, a liberal tree-hugging gun nut, a liberal Unitarian gun nut, a liberal abortionist gun nut or a liberal stem cell researcher gun nut.
There's no way he coul been someone the pastor knew, because the voice of God in the OP's head told him that it had to be a cliched newspaper stereotype with a political agenda. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Most felons ARE actual or potential liberal Democrats.
Or at least, demographically, they come from the same groups that make up the Democratic constituency.
The drive to restore the voting rights of felons is entirely a Democratic-organized drive, and the reason for that is obvious.
But not very many Jews are guilty of violent criminal activity, so it's statistically unlikely that someone who uses a firearm for criminal purposes is Jewish.

Look at it this way. If he is kidding, it's not really chuckleworthy, but it's okay. Chuckle if you wish. If he is "serious", then he IS the joke.

A gun owner would statistically more likely be a Republican voter, because they are all about that.

A LAW-ABIDING gun owner would statistically more likely be a Republican voter.
A gun owner who uses his gun to commit a felony would statistically more likely be a Democrat or someone who would vote Democrat if his voting rights were restored. ====================================
You gotta admit that "law abiding" Republicans fighting tooth and nail for Democrat criminals also having the right to have guns also is pretty hilarious.

Hoplophobe (from the Medical Dictionary): One who has an irrational fear of firearms. ___________________________________________________________________________ ____ http://www.lulu.com/billsey

What's a "Repugnicatn"?

I'll look for it. I could use a good laugh.
Although it's no more absurd than a Democrat advocating free speech and freedom of the press for people with non-liberal views. -Eric

If the best that "Repugnicatns" can do is ridicule their opponents for trivial typos, then the "Demorcats" will hold power for the rest of eternity. This how you destroy your party with a fat, stupid, rabble rouser like Rush Windbag.

You seem to think I'm a Republican. Bzzzt!! Thanks for playing.
You also seem to think that "Repugnicatn" and "Repugnicants" were typos, and trivial ones. An odd conclusion, that.
Google tells me that "Repugnican" is a pejorative term for a type of Republican. Whoopie. I thought I'd seen an original immature neologism, instead of a subculture phenomenon. (Reminded me of a lunatic white supremacist of my unfortunate acquaintance, actually. He had a bunch of them. I thought he was a colorful writer, but maybe his words and turns of phrase were just a subculture phenomenon, too.)
Guess I need to spend more time around Republicans and/or the people who hate them in that charming way.
Instead, I tend to hang around people who hate Republicans in an entirely different way, one that doesn't involve name-calling.
If the day ever comes when you're ready to try it that way too, please let me know. -Eric

FWIW, it's not consistent with my experience. But maybe that's due to a sample that's too small, or too unrepresentative of the Jewish population in the U.S., or southern Illinois.
Though we are coming at this backwards.
More significant would be knowing that a high percentage (or a low percentage) of people with a last name of Sedlacek are Jewish. And I've had no experience with people of that last name, FWIW. -Eric
